Designing the Oxygen website alongside our young people

In early 2024, Liz Fraser Betts and Caroline Boyd of Boy Oh Boy Designs joined forces, hosting a number of workshops with young people in Oxford and Banbury as part of initial preferences and dislikes for what our new brand and website could look like.

Caroline said, “It was a brilliant experience to sit down with students that are the target audience for this website and the creative opportunities it will hold. There were some really helpful critiques of similar cultural education partnership websites that helped us to develop a clean, well laid out web design that had useful functionality.”

Focussed around the theme of oxygen breathing life into the arts for young people across Oxfordshire, the brand has a flowy and curvy look with circles (or oxygen bubbles) being used prominently across the site.

Liz added, “We want to thank all the young people for their contributions to help the site to come into being as it now does. We were so impressed with the design thinking and ideas from those workshops and want to give a special thanks to Sammie Hutt at Activate for supporting us so much too.”
